OSPAC Open House: Songs & Stories of Edmonton

OSPACS (Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre Society) is extremely pleased to be presenting an Open House that will feature some of Edmonton's best musical artists collaborating with members of the Cosmopolitan Music Society. The weekend will be divided into 4 sessions that will focus on specific musical genres.
On Friday evening from 8 to midnight, Lionel Rault will present Blues to Rock. Lionel is a well known, acclaimed roots, blues, and rock musician and also host of CKUA Radio Network's Lionel's Vinyls. he will be accompanied by his brother Ron Rault on bass and vocals, drummer Bill Hobson, pianist David Aide, and saxophonist Dave Babcock.u
The band will be joined by members of the Cosmopolitan Music Society and the evening will close with a performance by local Edmonton rockabilly band, Punch Drunk Cabaret.
Saturday afternoon from 1 to 5 pm will focus on Celtic and Folk Music, hosted by Juno Award winning folk artist Maria Dunn. Special guests will include Celtic harpist Terry McDade, violinist Shannon Johnson, multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah McDade, and Indigenous singers and songwriters Debbie Houle & Sherryl Sewepagaham. Maria will also be joined by members of the Cosmopolitan Music Society Choir.
On Saturday evening from 8 pm to midnight, join us for an in depth look at Edmonton Hip Hop scene over the past few decades. Curated by Arlo Maverick and hosted by Bobby T, this session will feature conversations with Darren Jordan, Randy Mark, Bert Richards, and Jermaine Curtis. The session will also include a special collaboration with members of the Cosmopolitan Music Society and a closing set of full band Hip Hop.
Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 pm will explore the worlds of Electro Acoustic & Experimental Music. Hosted by Dr. Shawn Pinchbeck, the afternoon will feature performances by members of the Boreal Electro Acoustic Music Society, and special collaboration with members of the Cosmopolitan Music Society, and a closing set by Electro rockers Bordeaux.
This special Open House is made possible the Edmonton's Arts Council and the City of Edmonton. It is a free event.
